Course

Our maintenance team has steadily enhanced the turf quality into a world class playing surface. Fairways are made up of Tifsport Bermuda turf which has an attractive fine texture and stiff upright leaf blades to give your ball a better lie. The greens are Tifeagle turf which has proven to be a premier putting surface on the warm season courses of the US PGA Tour; able to take the stress of lower mowing heights whilst delivering the putting speed and smoothness expected by the top international pros.

Course Guide

Hole 1. “Welcome” Par 4, 419 yards

A fairly straight forward opening hole for tour pros. The best angle of approach is from the right side of the fairway as the generous green slopes from right to left. There’s no room for complacency on the green as some of the contours are very subtle and tricky to figure out.

Hole 2. “Florida” Par 3, 179 yards

With water lurking immediately at the left edge of the green, the smart play is to the right half and let the ball roll towards the middle of the green. This should not be a difficult hole but that can lull players into taking a risk with the tee shot and going for the left half of the green. On occasions there can be a faint breeze at the green while being totally calm on the tee and this may catch some of the risk takers by surprise.

Hole 3. “Dragon” Par 4, 463 yards

Aptly named, this is a hole that has all the ingredients to test the ball striking ability of a player. Both the drive and the long approach shot require precision and accuracy to thread the shots between the various hazards and we suspect that there will be plenty of slip-ups here. Par will be a good score on this hole.

Hole 4 “Sandy Shore” Par 4, 348 yards

A relatively short hole which is made shorter by the dog-leg left and the slightly downhill slope from tee to green. The toughest aspect is the narrow two tiered green which will demand care and delicacy with the short approach shot to ensure the ball finishes in a good position on the green. It will be interesting to see if the longer hitters opt to have a go at reaching the green on this hole.

Hole 5 “Horseman Warrior” Par 5, 552 yards

Players will be looking for a birdie on this hole as it’s reachable in two shots for them. The drive should not present too many problems but the long uphill approach needs to be very well struck to carry the bunker in front of the green and get into the right position for a safe two putts.

Hole 6 “Be Alert” Par 4, 443 yards

Everything on this hole slopes from right to left towards a long narrow lake down the left side. The drive is squeezed by a bunker and deep rough on the right side demanding precision off the tee. The green is heavily contoured which makes hitting the approach shot into a good position a real test of skill and judgment.

Hole 7 “Lovell” Par 3, 221 yards

This hole has all the ingredients that will likely rank it high on the list of great golf holes. The tee shot is to a slightly elevated, heavily contoured, diagonal green protected by two cavernous bunkers on its front right side. Judgment of distance is critical as shots landing on the front portion of the green can roll back off it and down several yards to the fairway below.

Hole 8 “Long Ping” Par 5, 588 yards

The hole is a slight dog-leg right which plays slightly downhill from the tee and then slopes appreciably uphill for the final 200 yards. A slight fade off the tee is best to shorten the hole by taking out the dog-leg and also avoid running into the lake on the left. From there it’s all about positioning the second shot to avoid the strategically placed bunkers. The green is relatively flat and forgiving so the players will be hoping to get within birdie range with the short third shot.

Hole 9 “Tiger” Par 4, 420 yards

We expect the players will be aggressive with their drives here in order to set up a relatively short approach shot to the green and chance of a birdie. The green is massive and can be deceiving when considering club selection and so may not yield many birdies.

Hole 10 “Little River” Par 4, 360 yards

It is difficult not to be side tracked by the sheer beauty of this hole which funnels upwards through an avenue of tall trees. The strategy here is to be able to play the approach shot to the green from the best possible angle so that the ball holds its position in the desired spot on this severely sloped and contoured green. We don’t expect to see many birdies here.

Hole 11 “Cauldron” Par 3, 177 yards

This hole plunges downward to a green far below almost giving the impression that the ball could be thrown there but nothing could be more deceiving. Correct club selection will be vital as this hole will be a test of which players are best able to figure out the calculation of distance forward versus distance downwards versus any breeze that is likely to be blowing.

Hole 12 “Tony’s Pond” Par 4, 440 yards

A good drive up the left centre of the fairway will put the player in an excellent position from which to be confident with his approach shot. While the safe areas are behind and left of the green, players will be keen to land on the front half to give themselves a chance to make a bolder uphill putt to the hole.

Hole 13 “Boomerang” Par 5, 552 yards

A long slightly left curving uphill hole that has a series of four fierce looking cross bunkers ready to gobble up any second shot that is too daring. With the elevated green also being on two levels birdies will not be a common feature here.

Hole 14 “Dreamland” Par 4, 416 yards

This is a beautiful hole with two large fairway bunkers guarding the left side with an uphill approach to a green set into a small natural amphitheatre. The main characteristic is the varying levels of the green and slopes at the front which can make it devilishly tricky to get an approach shot into the right position.

Hole 15 “Kiteflyer” Par 4, 390 yards

This is a slightly downhill hole which dog-legs right and tempts the long hitter to risk cutting the corner with his drive. Although the approach is not very long it demands precision and accuracy to the water and bunkers which closely guard this green.

Hole 16 “Elephant” Par 3, 164 yards

The green is slightly uphill from the tee and is sharply divided into three sections making correct club selection and good shot making vital. If the ball lands on the wrong spot holing out in two putts for par will be a stiff challenge.

Hole 17 “Deep Throat” Par 4, 471 yards

A good score for the previous 16 holes could be ruined by this very tight hole. Both drive and approach shot demand accuracy and in particular the approach requires courage to strike the ball perfectly off the downhill lie.

Hole 18 “Festival” Par 5, 545 yards

On the tee, the players must decide to go right of the bunker or go to the left of the bunker; however, they must hit a long drive to carry the rough on the left side. After your tee shot, now have to decide to go to the green in two or play out to the left for a short approach to the green. We believe that many players will attempt to go for the green in two which should make for some exciting watching as they try to hit all the way across the lake to the green.
